Christmas Relay Demonstration

For the last five years, at the Watts Atelier Christmas Party six of the instructors have done a "relay demo" from the live model. This year we were fortunate enough to have Fred Vrabel pose as Santa for us. Each instructor does a 15-20 min sitting on the painting and then passes it on to the next instructor.

Life Drawing Studies and Demos (Sept 2010)

Edit: I forgot to mention, I have had some people over the last year or so express an interest in buying some of my life studies. I have started up an Etsy shop for just this purpose, so go and check it out. It is a little sparse right now, but as I catalog the better drawings that are still in good shape I will list them. Quicker studies will list at about $3o and longer studies at about $50.

WFC demonstration recap

So, as I mentioned last week, Lucas Graciano and I did a relay painting demo to launch this years World Fantasy Con. We met many nice people, mostly via John Picacio's kind introductions, and had a fun time. For our painting demo we did an oil painting based on a thumbnail we whipped up real quick at lunch. Since this was the World Fantasy Con and this years theme was Edgar Allen Poe's 200th birthday, we thought it might be fun to paint Poe as a knight riding on a raven. I know, clever right. We spent about an hour and 20 minutes on it for the demo, alternating every 20, starting with me. We then spent maybe another 40 min on it in the hotel room.
